The Friends of the West Liberty Public Library will hold a book and bake sale, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Library on 400 N. Spencer. Books from donations and discarded from the library are offered for free will donations. Wonderful baked items are available for sale. The object of the sale is to recycle books and promote reading. more
Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre will present a special performance for adults and teens on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at Owl Glass Puppetry Center, 319 N. Calhoun, West Liberty. The play, "Squatters on Red Earth," written by Mary Swander under the guidance of members of the Meskwaki Settlement, was supported by grants from Anon Was a Woman Environmental Art Award (The New York Foundation for the Arts) and The State Historical Society of Iowa, Inc. more

On Tuesday, Sept. 19, Jack Blake, accompanied by Durk Sterner, visited Washington, D.C., on an Honor Flight out of Moline.  Blake, now of Muscatine, taught industrial arts at WLHS 1970-2000.  He served in Vietnam 1969-70 in the 101st Airborne Division as a radio operator in combat.   more

Prior to the regular meeting on Sept. 5, the council held a work session with Taylor Johnson of Bowman & Miller P.C. accounting firm, which performed the city’s annual audit for 2021-2022. Johnson summarized the 62-page report, comparing the city’s financials for the last four fiscal years. more
