The gift of education is one that keeps on giving, often leading to more career opportunities. In addition, saving for future education with a 529 plan like College Savings Iowa can help limit the need to borrow and take on overwhelming student loan debt. “Opening an account for the special children in your life could be the greatest gift of the year,” Fitzgerald said. “College Savings Iowa is for individuals and families planning for all types of futures. Your savings can be used to pay for qualified expenses at universities, colleges, community colleges, trade and vocational schools, apprenticeships and more.”

Since its launch in 1998, College Savings Iowa has grown to more than $5.5 billion in assets and more than $3.2 billion has been used for qualified educational expenses. The plan has over 254,000 active accounts with an average size of $20,659.
