Janis K. Fuhrmeister, 76, of Lone Tree, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Stirlingshire of Coralville.  Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 12, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Lone Tree, with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, at the funeral home.  Janis’ favorite color was purple; to honor Janis, if you have something purple to wear, please feel free to do so.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, rural Nichols.  Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Lone Tree Community School Library Fund.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Janis Kay Radford was born on June 20, 1947, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Glen A. and Nedra M. (Fleming) Radford.  She was a 1964 graduate of West Branch High School.  On July 2, 1966, Janis was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Fuhrmeister in West Branch.  Janis was a secretary at the University of Iowa, secretary for Owen’s Brush, and later a para-educator at the Lone Tree Community School.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lone Tree and Nichols, Federation Club, T.T.T., Lone Tree Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Club, and also volunteered at the Lone Tree Community School.  Janis enjoyed quilting, reading, watching T.V. and having coffee with the girls at the Lone Tree BP, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Janis will be deeply missed by her children, Joe (Laura) Fuhrmeister of Lone Tree, Brian (Lindsey) Fuhrmeister of Nichols, and Glen (Eric) Fuhrmeister of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Bridget (Andy), Sam, Lukas and Luci; one brother, Jerry (Diane) Radford of Solon; brother-in-law, Jerry (Cindy) Fuhrmeister of Morse and sisters-in-law, Mary Henderson of Goodyear, Ariz., Donna (Mark) Heacock of Iowa City, and Carol Poock of Gaylord, Minn.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob on Aug. 28, 2007; father and mother-in-law, Robert (Gertie) Fuhrmeister, Sr.; and brothers-in-law, John Henderson and Denny Poock.
