EICC classes moving to online delivery

With rising COVID-19 positivity rates in the community and in preparation for the college’s Thanksgiving break, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) has announced changes in its class delivery procedures for its Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Community College campuses.

Beginning Nov. 9 and continuing through the end of the colleges’ fall semester, classes traditionally not requiring lab or hands-on involvement will move to online or live online delivery. Classes requiring hands-on instruction, such as those in career training programs and the sciences, will continue to meet on campus as they are currently doing.

From the beginning of fall classes, EICC has committed itself to the safety of its students, faculty and staff, and is taking this action in response to health officials’ anticipation of an even greater surge in COVID-19 cases with the approaching holidays.

All college locations will continue to remain open and full services are available. To reduce the number of people in the college buildings staff will work on a rotating basis, alternating between working in the office and at home.

Registration for the colleges’ winterim session and spring semester are currently underway. Winterim classes are a four-week term beginning Dec. 23 and, as in past years, will be offered entirely online. The colleges’ spring semester begins Jan. 19, and will again provide students the choice of classes scheduled on campus, live online and fully online.
