The families who had children numbered 92 with 207 children receiving toys. Fruit sacks were delivered to 56 senior citizens.

Starting Nov. 18, A total of 335 coats were given away at St. Joseph’s Church and the West Liberty Public Library.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the help from the following:

The Ministerial Association for organizing the church drives for winter wear, the local schools and other groups who conducted food drives, individuals who donated food, toiletries and money to purchase supplies and toys, Star Tree gift donors, the West Liberty State Bank and MidWestOne Bank for the Star Tree locations, Rotary coat drive, Aquarius help with toys, First Church United for the use of their facility, people who phoned recipients to schedule appointments, Lions and Rotary drivers who helped with food deliveries, volunteers who delivered fruit sacks, Girl Scouts who bagged personal items, Silver Cord students and others who helped with the drive up deliveries, and volunteers who sorted the food contributions and packed boxes.

This community has so many generous volunteers who are willing to contribute wherever needed and helped make a happier holiday season for many.
