A family friendly event will be held at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds Saturday, June 3.

Weekend at the Fair will begin with horse harness racing. Gates to the grandstand will open at 11 a.m., warm ups for the harness racing will start at 11:30 a.m. with harness racing kicking off at 12:30 p.m.

“This is our fourth year for harness racing,” Muscatine County Fairgrounds Manager Kelsey Meyers said. “It costs $5 to get in and is a good family event. Everybody has fun.”

The races will go until 3:30 p.m., she added.

From 3 – 5 p.m., a silent auction will be held with a wide variety of items to bid on, she added.

A well-known band will take the stage at Midway Pavilion from 4 – 5:30 p.m.

“Brit Stokes comes from Nashville,” Meyers said. “He is sponsored by Eastern Iowa Auction. He sings a little bit of everything and is really good.”

When the Brit Stokes Band plays in Nashville the venue is usually packed.

“We’re super excited to have him here,” Meyers said.

From 4 – 7 p.m. a tenderloin dinner will be offered in the Midway Pavilion for a free-will donation.

The final event of the evening will be the live auction from 6 – 7 p.m.

“All the money we raise that evening helps us hold the fair,” Meyers added.
