This is Teamsters Local 238 endorsement letter for Muscatine County supervisor candidate Kim Schneider.
The executive board of Teamsters Local 238 has endorsed you in your race for the Muscatine County Board of Supervisors. We have made this decision based on input from our members in the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Muscatine County Corrections and Muscatine County Secondary Roads Department.
Over the course of the last few years, it has been very evident to all union members within Muscatine County that your opponent, Scott Sauer, has shown anti-worker and anti-union stances and continues to vote against employee rights. It is our belief that you would bring much needed positive change and restore employee rights that have been lost within Muscatine County.
The employees of Muscatine County provide vital public services not only in times of crisis, but on a day-to-day basis, in order to ensure that residents maintain normalcy when there isn’t a crisis. Plowing roads, maintaining safe communities and protecting residents when they in the custody of the county are vital and often times unseen acts that are necessary for any community to function. In addition, it is our public servants who step up during times of natural disaster and other emergency situations.
Unfortunately, Muscatine County employees have felt under attack and not supported from their own employer – the County Board of Supervisors. We hope you will value the work they do and the contributions they make when you are elected, by recognizing the importance of workers’ rights and help restore dignity to Muscatine County employees and the work they perform.
