Eastern Iowa Light and Power has donated $20,000 to the new Event Center at the Muscatine County Fair.

“I couldn’t be more humbled at the support of the new event center from companies and individuals from all around Muscatine County.” Said Kelsey Meyers, Muscatine County Fair Manager. “REC serves many of our fair goers and is a big supporter of the rural economy and ag initiatives. Their gift is another big step forward in making the event center a reality.”

Representatives from Eastern Iowa Light & Power Cooperative, based in Wilton, IA, said they are proud to support the Muscatine County Fair and its latest building project.

The Cooperative was founded in 1935 to help improve the lives of rural residents in eastern Iowa by bringing electrical power to area homes, farms and businesses.

The organization continues in that mission today by helping other organizations, like the Muscatine County Fair, that work to improve and enhance the lives of the people in the communities we serve.

The Fair Board is meeting this week to review final architect plans and select construction firms for the bid process. The bid process is expected to take 6-8 weeks and the fair board hopes to select a contractor in June.

To donate to the project contact Kelsey Meyers at the Muscatine County Fair Office at 319-627-2414 or at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com.
