Ag Day For West Liberty preschoolers

Posted

On May 1, the Muscatine County Farm Bureau conducted an agriculture day for all West Liberty Early Learning Center preschool classes.

The event was held in the show pavilion on the fairgrounds with nearly 75 children and their teachers learning about Iowa agriculture including: Beef cows, Chickens, Corn, Dairy Cows, Goats, Pigs, Sheep, Soybeans, and Turkeys.

Along with Farm Bureau, many West Liberty High School FFA members helped educate.

The mission of the Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom program is to foster awareness, understanding, and appreciation of how we produce food and fiber, what we eat, and how we live; through engaging youth in appropriate learning activities.

Muscatine County Farm Bureau volunteers included Robynn Anderson AITC Coordinator and Kelsey Meyers. We also appreciated the great help of Jerry Anderson Regional Manager and Carol Hinkle office assistant.

Thank you to Alyssa and Matt Lenz, the Meyers family and Elyse Buysse-Herrold for bringing animals for the event.
