Middle School Spelling Bee


On Friday, Feb. 2, the West Liberty Middle School participated in a spelling bee, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Students in grades five through seven were given the option to participate, of that a total of 38 students elected to be a part of the competition.

The top three students in each grade can advance to the regional bee, which will be held in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 18.

In 5th grade the winner was Jordan Escobedo with second place going to Daniel Seemuth and third place to David Anderson.

In 6th grade the winner was Paola Acosta Rivera, second place was Alex Simon and third place was Iver Dong.

In 7th grade the winner was Georgia Clark, second place was Lili Anderson and third went to Rachel Tharp.
