YMCA strengthens community

We are encouraging all Eldridge voters to get out on March 3rd and vote “yes” for bond approval to build a new community YMCA.

The cornerstone of the Eldridge community has always been its families – a place to grow, to educate our children, and a place to call home. The mission of the Y is very much about strengthening this community. In no uncertain terms should a Y be called just a fitness facility – it is much, much more!

The Y’s overall mission is to strengthen community by nurturing the health and well being of youth, to improve the health and well being of the entire community, and to give back and provide support to all in the community.

A membership in the new Eldridge Y entitles one to participate in well over 300 fitness programs, from infants to seniors, throughout its locations.

However, physical fitness activities are just the beginning. The Y’s have a long tradition of youth development and guidance.

There are after school programs to support the efforts of families in ensuring their children have positive interactions after school. There are family outing days and activities that build upon the core relationships fundamental to any community. Summer camps, non school day programs, swim team, basketball, football – you name it!

Unless you’ve had an active Y membership, you don’t know what you’re missing!

Many in our community are now in the grandparenting stage of our lives. We take pride in seeing our own children succeed as parents and seeing their families thrive.

Many of us don’t live in the same communities as our children and grandchildren, so it gives me comfort knowing they would have access to an organization like the Y which supports them in their parenting and family development.

For these reasons, please vote YES on March 3rd!
