West Liberty’s James Gregory Falconer, 43, died due to injuries sustained in a car accident on Saturday, Nov. 11, leaving behind a fiancée and a two-year-old son.
The accident occurred around 6 a.m. on Highway 70 near Nichols when Falconer, along with his son, collided with a vehicle driven by Mikyaela Shari Niquolette Bacon, 33, of Ainsworth, Iowa.
According to a report filed by the Iowa State Patrol, Falconer and his son were traveling southbound in a 2011 Chevy Malibu when Bacon, in a 2015 Ford Explorer traveling north, crossed the centerline.
Falconer was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and suffered fatal injuries. He was transported straight to the Henderson Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty.
However, the two-year-old was properly restrained in a car seat and only sustained minor injuries. The child and driver of the other vehicle were transported by a West Liberty Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Both survivors are in stable condition. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
