West Liberty FFA Chapter wins seven titles in March 6 District

Advance to state competition on April 18-20 in Des Moines

West Liberty High School’s FFA Chapter shined in the District 7 Championships, competing at Mediapolis this past Saturday, March 6.

The chapter won seven championship titles for advisor Zach Morris’ chapter. All the champions will advance to state competition April 18-20th at the Wells Fargo Center in Des Moines.

The Ag Issues and Perceptions team of Aly Harned, Cassie Aleman, Taylor Eason, Tye Miller, Jack Mahoney, Rachel Aird and Kylie Struck claimed a district title.

The Conduct of Meetings team of Dominic Hernandez, Paige Werling, Dionni Garcia-Vasquez, Mya Elizondo, David Mahoney, Genna Evans and Addyson Lehman also claimed the district championship and will advance to state competition.

Brielle Page won the District title for having the best Chapter Website, also advancing to the state level.

The chapter’s Parliamentary Procedure team of Finley Hall, Morgan Hodge, Colin Cassady, Brooklyn Buysse and Preston Daufeldt also calimed the district title and will be advancing to state.

The Ag CSI team of Jada Maas, Ava Morrison, Madi Stultz, Mia Gingerich, Daisy Kivi and Sophie Buysse also won a District title and will advance to state while the Program of Activities unit of Janey Gingerich, Isabel Morrison and Lindsey Laughlin also claimed the District title, advancing to the state level.

Also claiming the District title was the West Liberty Ag Impact team of Cole Daufeldt, Ryan Cassady, Seth Axsom, Crager David, Cael Daufeldt and Caden Laughlin.

Other members of the chapter placing at district including the Team Welding duo of Morgan Lehman and Kaden Broders, which took fifth place while Kaitlyn Stultz won a Silver Rating in Ag Broadcasting, while Amerie Alvarado also won a Silver Rating in Creed Speaker as did Chance Thrasher in Job Interview.

Academic Achievements Award were also claimed for the chapter by Janey Gingerich, Averi Goodale, Lindsey Laughlin, Isabel Morrison, Brielle Page, Miranda Putney, Abby Tanchinh and Chancellor Thrasher.
