West Liberty Farmer's Market sets record

West Liberty Farmers Market achieved its highest amount of vendors last week.

Fourteen vendors came to town last Wednesday to sell baked goods, fresh produce, Lemonade shake-ups, goat milk products and gourmet hamburgers.

“The record feels great,” West Liberty Chamber of Commerce Director Charles Brooke said. “Markets after the pandemic were quiet. We knew it was going to take some time to get back into business and really showcase our community. I think we have really hit the mark this year.”

West Liberty Farmers Markets are held every Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. on Spencer Street between Third and Fourth Streets until Oct. 25.

“The Chamber of Commerce organizes the process and gets the city on board for six months out of the year,” Brooke said. “Jim and Jess Madsen are our managers who have been running it for the past few years.”

The Madsen’s have their own business called 6M Farms LLC, he added. The Chamber of Commerce wanted someone who sells at farmers markets to run it.

Last week, Arty’s Ice Cream & Grill joined the West Liberty Farmer’s Market. They will be there every Wednesday from now on, according to the West Liberty Farmer’s Market Facebook page, Arty’s sold out of burgers.

For more information about the market, you can contact the Chamber of Commerce at Chamber@westlibertyiowa.com, Brooke said. He will send you a form to get signed up if you’re interested in selling goods there. There is a fee to do so.
