In the wake of the 2020 Muscatine County Fair being canceled, the fair, in conjunction with the Muscatine County Extension Office, is offering several virtual activities during what would have been fair week July 15-19.
Local county 4-H and FFA members will also be able to submit livestock and non-livestock entries to be judged virtually as well, with each member having to turn in photos of their projects and/or animals for judging.
The Muscatine County Fair recently released a schedule of when 4-H and FFA results will be ready. They will be posted likely both on the fair’s website, muscatinecountyfair.com, and to its Facebook page. The results schedule is as follows:

Virtual contests
There are also 10 new virtual contests to help annual fairgoers get into the spirit of fair week. Most include submitting photos for judging and all have July 12 deadlines. The virtual open contests include:
* Virtual Coloring Contest — July 15 results displayed. Download the picture associated with the correct age group, color it, then email us a copy of your picture at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual Lego Contest — July 15 results displayed. Let’s see your skills with Legos! Build your Lego masterpiece and email us a picture of it at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual Pinterest Contest — July 16 results displayed. Find a project on Pinterest and see how close you can replicate it! Email us a side-by-side picture of the finished product and the Pinterest picture. Please email us by July 12 at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com.
* Virtual Dress Your Animal Contest — July 16 results displayed. Dress up your dog, cat, rabbit, bird, cow, pig, horse, goat, sheep, or any animal that you have! Let us see your creative pictures of your very cooperative animals! Email us your picture at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual 2020 Fair Sweethearts Contest! — July 17 results displayed. Submit a picture of a couple (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, ANYONE!) that has been going to the Muscatine County Fair for years. Email the picture to muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 13. Make sure to let us know in the email how many years they have been attending the Muscatine County Fair, the longest attending couple will win! Results will be announced on Friday July 17.
* Virtual Rock Painting Contest — July 17 results displayed. Paint a rock, any size, and take at least one photo of the finished product. If it is a bigger rock, take a photo of each side. Email the photos to muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual Photography Contest — July 18 results displayed. Let’s see those photography skills! Email us your best pictures from the year at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual Cake Decorating Contest — July 18 results displayed. Let us see those pretty cakes! Email us your video at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual Sidewalk Art Contest — July 19 results displayed. Draw your best picture or design on your sidewalk or driveway using chalk. Take at least one photo of your creation (more if needed) and submit them by email to: muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12.
* Virtual Fair Recipes — July 19 results displayed. Let’s all share those family favorite recipes that turn into fair blue ribbon masterpieces! Email us at muscatinecountyfair@gmail.com by July 12 with your fair worthy recipes.
