Christians all over the world just celebrated the most important event in human history – the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is called Easter.
Fleming Rutledge writes, “if Jesus had not been raised from the dead, then we would never have heard of him.”
Ron Sider tells us that great German thinker Wolfhart Pannenberg said, “If you believe the resurrection happened, you have to change the way you live.”
St. Francis prayed, Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Christians are to be peacemakers, peace doers. We are to be instruments of love, not hate, not division, not fear not polarization, not anger.
We are to be instruments of hope in a hopeless world. We are to be instruments of wisdom in a world overrun by knowledge and information.
We are to be instruments of truth in a world filled with lies, deception and falsehood. We are to be instruments of life in a world filled with war, violence, terror and death.
We are to be lights in the darkness. We are to be instruments of joy in a world filled with pain and suffering.
We are to be instruments of order in a world filled with chaos. We are to be instruments of the good in a world in need of the good.
The world we live in needs all this from us. Our children need all this. What world are we leaving for them to live in?
Listen to Franklin D. Roosevelt: “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”
Dallas Willard added, “the most important thing God gets out of your life is the person you become. And that’s the most important thing you get out of your life.”
Indeed!
