Supervisors designate some ARPA funds

Money will be used for projects including new roof on courthouse

The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors made a second allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds totaling nearly $4 million for eight projects.

That includes up to $1 million toward a new roof for the courthouse, and up to $1.5 million for water and sewer connections to Deep Lake Park.

The eight projects receiving money were chosen by supervisors earlier from among applicants.

According to the resolution approved unanimously Sept. 19, Muscatine County was allocated $8,286,982 from the $1.9 trillion ARPA signed into law by President Biden in March.

After Monday’s approvals, the county has $280,000 left.

The project funding approved Monday:

• Conservation Deep Lakes Park Water Connection in an amount not to exceed $876,475

• Conservation Deep Lakes Park Sewer Connection in an amount not to exceed $614,375

• Courthouse Roof Replacement in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000

• Secondary Roads Holly Avenue Bridge Replacement in an amount not to exceed $365,081

• Secondary Roads 150th Street Bridge Replacement in an amount not to exceed $320,809

• Muscatine County Drug Task Force Sustainability in an amount not to exceed $75,000

• Liberty Communications rural fiber to home in an amount not to exceed $100,000

• Community Foundation new physicians’ clinic in an amount not to exceed $625,000
