A silent second came to a close before the Wildcats cut the Comet lead to one scoring a pair in the top of the third. Three more from the visitors in the fifth saw the Comets trailing briefly 5 - 3. It was then the Comets rebounded, plating three more in the bottom half of the frame to reclaim the lead, they never trailed again.

With two runs of insurance in the sixth, the Comets didn't panic as the Wildcats mounted a comeback in the seventh, only converting one run. The final score was 8 - 6.

The Comets advanced and hosted West Burlington in the semi-final.

The game was silent through the first two innings before the vistors drove in their first run in the top of the third. The Comets defense stood firm highlighted by a diving grab from Bryn Cassady in right field to Sully Hall to Pearson Hall to Finley Hall from center field to stop the Falcons from plating a second run.

The Falcons eventually broke through for the second run of the contest as the Comets headed into the bottom half trailing 2 - 0 following a solo homerun.

In the bottom of the seventh, down to their final out, Mallory Wulf managed a single.

Pearson Hall walked into the box, who was intentionally walked early in the game in a similar situation, sent the first offering from West Burlington's Lauren Summers flying over the fence to draw the Comets even and forcing extra innings.

The eighth passed uneventfully before the Falcons broke through for three runs in the ninth inning. The Comets offense was unable to muster a comeback in the bottom half, retiring in order, and putting a close on the Comets season falling 5 -2 .
