The city of West Liberty received a single letter of interest for appointment to the empty city council seat vacated by Jose Zacarias in August.
West Liberty City Manager David Haugland said Joshua Schiltz Costa submitted his letter of interest by the deadline. The deadline was previously set for 12 p.m., Sept. 8, by city council.
City council decided at the end of August to schedule a work session to review applicants but with only one applicant Haugland said he wasn’t sure if the city council would have one.
Haugland does expect the appointment of Schiltz Costa to be on the agenda for the next city council meeting Tuesday, Sept. 20.
