Richard “Dick” Wayne Spilger, 65, of Atalissa, Iowa died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospital.

There will be a celebration of life for close friends and family on Saturday, Nov. 7, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Atalissa Fire department where stories can be shared and his favorite meal of spaghetti will be served.

A graduate of West Liberty High School in 1973, Dick served as a volunteer on the Atalissa Fire Department. Dick was born June 30, 195?, the son of Wayne and Vivian Spilger. He was retired, but had worked 25 years at Thatcher Plastic Packaging, formerly in Muscatine, where he made some lifelong friends. Dick is survived by his daughters Amanda (Matt) Grace of Eldora, IA, Heather (Greg) Gill of Muscatine, IA, Holly (Jeremy Pessman) Cochran of Davenport, IA, Heidi Cochran of Muscatine, IA and Natosha (Troy) Anthony of Muscatine, IA, his sister Janice (Bill) Sweitzer of Orlando, FL and many grandkids, great grandkids, niece, nephew and close friends.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Vivian Spilger, son Mickey, and his dog Butch.
