Papers available for November 17 election

Elections for seats on the West Liberty Board of Education and West Liberty City Council will be held this November.

Residents in the school district can pick up papers to run for a board seat from the West Liberty Community School District’s Administration building located at 1103 North Elm Street in West Liberty.

Board of Education President Jake Burroughs said there are three seats open for this year’s Nov. 7 election, on the WeLead podcast. The three seats open for election are: Burroughs, Jeff Laughlin’s and Carla Shield’s. Papers can be turned in starting Aug. 28 and are due by Sept. 21. Fifty signatures are needed for your name to be on the ballot.

West Liberty City Clerk Shari Hoffert said the city has three council seats open for election this year as well as the mayors.

Paperwork to run for city council can be picked up at city hall but is the person’s responsibility to file the paperwork with the county, Hoffert added.

The council seats open for election are Cara McFerren, Joshua Shiltz and Ashlee Smith’s
