John “Johnny” Holcomb, 57, of Nichols, died on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in rural Nichols. Family requests that all in attendance wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of John. Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.sandhfuneralservices.com. The Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree are caring for John’s family and arrangements.

Johnny Holcomb was born on Nov. 18, 1962, in Iowa City, the son of Frank and Yvonne (DeWolf) Holcomb.

John was a 1981 graduate of West Liberty High School. John worked for Randy’s Carpet and Interior for many years and later became owner/operator of Holcomb Tile. His tiling work can be found all over Iowa at homes, museums, banks, and many government buildings.

Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with friends and family. He was a handyman, always tearing things apart and re-building them. He loved working with marble and granite; building counter tops and end tables and was an avid toy tractor collector.

Johnny will be deeply missed by his parents, Frank and Yvonne Holcomb, of Lone Tree; as well as his daughter, Brooklyn Holcomb (Shane Richardson) of Wapello; two grandchildren, Kamryn and Kye Richardson; one brother, Frank Holcomb, of Fresno, California; one sister, Nancy Holcomb of Nichols and a niece and nephew, LeeAnna Kasper and Levi Sotzen.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
