James entered this life on Friday, July 24, 1931 in Fairfield, Iowa. He was the son of Albert Fredrick and Etta Ethel (Phillips) Morris.

He attended and graduated from Seymour High School in 1950. After a short stint in Kansas City and farming briefly in Eldridge and Tipton, he met the love of his life at The Col Ballroom in Davenport.

James was united in marriage to Marjorie Lee Bryan in an evening ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 5, 1961 at the Wayside Chapel of St. John’s Methodist Church, Davenport.

The couple purchased a farm north of West Liberty where they raised various animals and crops, retiring, and moving to Tipton in 1998.

James was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He worked tirelessly on the farm to provide for his family, but he enjoyed every bit of it from caring for his animals to tending to his large vegetable garden.

After moving to Tipton, he continued with his garden, downsized a little bit and picked up a new hobby of walking the streets of Tipton socializing and ridding the streets of recyclable cans, bottles and trash. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Those who will mourn his passing are his daughters, Cathleen (Christopher) Morris-Wyatt of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Cheryl Stark of Tipton, and Christine (Jeff) Durst of Davenport; grandchildren, Megan Morris-Wyatt, Raymond Stark, Brandon Stark, Carter Morris-Wyatt and Michael Durst; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie on June 15, 2013; and his siblings, Elizabeth Kretschmar, Albert Morris, Jr., Robert Morris, Delbert Morris & Donald Morris.
