AMES — The Iowa 4-H Foundation has opened its call for nominations for the annual Alum of the Day awards at the Iowa State Fair. Ten individuals will be chosen to be recognized each day of the first 10 days of the fair, Aug. 12-21 at the 4-H Exhibits Building. Winners will be recognized during a special awards ceremony and will receive a special 4-H and Iowa State Fair prize pack.

Do you know a 4-H alum who exemplifies the 4-H spirit, contributes to their community or continues to support the 4-H program? The Foundation needs your help in honoring these local 4-H advocates. Alum of the Day is a recognition event that seeks to thank 4-H alumni for their service in spreading the work of 4-H and living out the core pillars of the 4-H program.

“We are always thrilled to recognize Iowa 4-H alums who continue to live out what they’ve learned in 4-H and are still advocating for the 4-H program,” said Emily Saveraid, Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. “This is a great opportunity to highlight someone in your community that is making an impact.”

To complete a nomination visit: www.iowa4hfoundation.org/alumoftheday and submit a nomination form outlining how 4-H has impacted the nominee, why the nominee deserves recognition, past and current 4-H involvement, along with any other information the selection committee may need to better consider your nomination.

Nominations must be postmarked or emailed to iowa4h@iastate.edu by July 12. Winners will be notified by July 19. Nominees must have been a 4-H’er and must currently reside in Iowa. Nominations that are not selected will be considered the following two years.
