West Liberty High School announced Tuesday that this year’s Homecoming is being moved to Friday, Oct. 9, because of the delay in starting school.

Principal Brenda Arthur-Miller said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing per CDC guidelines, several changes have been made to Homecoming week activities including the elimination of many popular events. She said the school will not be able to hold a dance, parade, activity day or pep rally.

However, the school will host several events for Homecoming including:

• Coronation of King/Queen will take place during halftime of the varsity football game with Monticello on Friday, Oct. 9.

• The “Mom and Pop Squad” will perform with the cheerleaders during halftime of the varsity game.

• Window painting by extra curricular groups in the community.

• Dress up days for high school students – Group A: Sept 28 - Oct 2; Group B: Oct 5 - 9.
