Este fin de semana tuve la oportunidad de sentarme con Gabriella López, la dueña de XPD- Xtreme Party Decorations. Me dio un recorrido de su negocio y platicó sobre sus comienzos.
López es originaria de Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, México donde tuvo una infancia muy bonita. Es la más chica de ocho hermanos, Gabriella tiene carrera profesional. Estudió la carrera de enfermera registrada y programador analista. Después de graduarse trabajó en el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) de Piedras Negras, pero debido a un ajuste de personal, se fue a trabajar a Texas con su hermano. Fue allí donde conoció a su esposo Gerardo Lopez dueño de la Compañía de Construcción y Remodelación llamada XR- Xtreme Renovations. Juntos formaron una linda familia de tres hijos: Jazbeck, Jireh, y Jathniel Lopez. Están agradecidos con Dios por esos 20 años de casados y reconocen que todo se lo deben a Dios.
Por mucho tiempo Gabriella se dedicó a ser ama de casa, pero hace cuatro años, decidió emprender su negocio XPD-Xtreme Party Decorations. Ha sido de mucha bendición, este negocio le trae una inmensa satisfacción porque le gusta mucho y le ayuda a sentirse desestresada. En su familia “todos son emprendedores”. Su mamá tenía su propio negocio y les enseñó a sus 8 hijos a valerse por sí mismos. A todos les decía “tú te tienes que granjear tu comida”.
Sus hermanas tomaban clases de tejido y López tomó cursos en tarjetería española y cursos de globos. La tarjetería es el arte de realizar felicitaciones e invitaciones hechos a mano. La emprendedora tomó varios cursos a través de su vida para que pudiera tener un amplio conjunto de habilidades. Aparte de los cursos que tomó, también tomó clases de guitarra.
XPD-Xtreme Party Decorations no podría haberse logrado sin el gran apoyo que su esposo le dio. A parte de crear un gran estudio de trabajo completamente nuevo con máquinas industriales, Gerardo siempre le está dando ideas para el negocio. Por ese motivo, decidieron registrar su negocio. “Sin mi esposo, no podría haber hecho esto. Estoy muy agradecida con él”. Adicionalmente, López está agradecida con su hija Jazbeck porque le ayuda bastante con el negocio.
¿Qué exactamente es este negocio? Es un negocio que hace un poquito de todo, pero en específico, hace decoraciones para fiestas y regalos personalizados para cualquier ocasión. También, hacen playeras, gorras, vasos grabados con láser y tazas personalizadas de sublimación para el café. Hacen canastas con arreglos de flores naturales y artificiales y globos especiales que llevan regalos adentro. Tienen globos de helio, agendas personalizadas, trono para quinceañeras. De igual manera, también rentan manteles y fundas para sillas, rentan mobiliario para bodas y quinceañeras, Venden todos los detallitos que ocupas para un baby shower, fiesta de cumpleaños, graduación, o más como centros de mesas y recuerditos.
Cada uno es personalizado al tema de la fiesta. Gabriella me enseñó los moños, figuritas hechas a mano, y el cristal cortado usado para las mesas de postres. Tiene unos osos de peluche grandes al igual que joyería genuina de plata 9.25 y Fantasía y todo es de buen material y calidad. Recientemente hizo canastas de la Pascua y tuvo al Conejo de la Pascua entregando personalmente cada canasta a los niños. Tienen botargas para ir a las fiestas de cumpleaños y hacer la fiesta más divertida.
Es muy impresionante ver todo el material que usa ya que es de gran calidad y más que nada, es muy bonito ver como ella personaliza cada producto. Por ejemplo, hace unas tazas con versos de canciones y cajas personalizadas que anuncian la llegada de un bebé. Lo que más me gusta es que ella trabaja conforme a tu presupuesto y que su negocio al igual que el de su esposo les gusta mucho apoyar a la comunidad, especialmente a programas educativos y han patrocinado a las organizaciones de las escuelas.
Gabriella es detallista. Hace cada arreglo con cariño como si fuera algo que ella quisiera que le regalaran. Platica que para ella, el pedido que nunca olvidará es cuando hizo las playeras y arreglos de flores en memoria de Jeshia Saldaña Torres. Hizo más de 100 playeras para el funeral en West Liberty y aparte Yesenia Torres Garcia (madre de Jeshia) mandó hacer más playeras para llevarlas a Puerto Rico, pero la decoradora no podía dejar de sentir un dolor inmenso. Está agradecida con toda la comunidad y sus alrededores por confiar en su trabajo.
A pesar de que le ha tocado hacer arreglos playeras y productos para ocasiones muy tristes, como las playeras de su sobrino Carlos Amos Ortiz R, su cuñado Jose Carlos Ortiz L, y las playeras para el funeral de su primo Jay Lopez también platica que le da mucho gusto ver la cara de sus clientes cuando miran el arreglo para el Día de las Madres que les ha preparado o un globo personalizado para un cumpleañero. “Todos merecen recibir un lindo detalle de vez en cuando” dice López.

This weekend I had the opportunity to sit down with Gabriella López, the owner of XPD- Xtreme Party Decorations. She gave me a tour of her business and talked about her beginnings.
López is originally from Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico where she had a very beautiful childhood. She is the youngest of eight children and has a professional career. She studied to become a registered nurse and analyst programmer. After graduating, she worked at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Piedras Negras, but due to a personnel adjustment, she went to work in Texas with her brother. It was there that she met her husband, Gerardo Lopez, owner of the Construction and Remodeling Company called XR-Xtreme Renovations.
Together, they formed a beautiful family of three children: Jazbeck, Jireh, and Jathniel Lopez. They are grateful to God for those 20 years of marriage and recognize that they owe everything to God.
For a long time, Gabriella dedicated herself to being a housewife, but four years ago, she decided to start her own XPD-Xtreme Party Decorations business. To her, this has been a great blessing because this business brings her immense satisfaction. She loves it a lot and it helps her feel de-stressed.
In her family “everyone is an entrepreneur.” Her mother had her own business and she taught her 8 children to fend for themselves. She told everyone "you have to farm your food." Her sisters took weaving classes and López took courses in tarjeteria española and balloon courses. Tarjeteria española is the art of cardmaking- making handmade congratulations and invitations. The entrepreneur took various courses throughout her life so that she could have a broad set of skills. She also took guitar lessons.
XPD-Xtreme Party Decorations could not have been achieved without the great support of her husband. Aside from setting up a brand new big work studio with industrial machines, Gerardo is always giving ideas for the business. For that reason, they decided to register her business. “Without my husband, I couldn't have done this. I am very grateful to him," said Gabriella. Additionally, López is grateful to her daughter, Jazbeck, because she helps him a lot with the business.
What exactly is this business? It is a business that does a little bit of everything, but specifically, it makes decorations for parties and personalized gifts for any occasion. They also make t-shirts, hats, laser engraved cups, and custom sublimation coffee mugs. They make baskets with natural and artificial flower arrangements and special balloons that carry gifts inside. They offer helium balloons, personalized agendas, and a throne for quinceañeras. In the same way, they also rent tablecloths and chair covers, furniture for weddings and quinceañeras, sell all the little details for a baby shower, birthday party, graduation, or more including centerpieces and souvenirs. Each one is personalized to the theme of the party.
Gabriella showed me the bows, handmade figurines, and the cut glass used for the dessert tables. She has some big teddy bears as well as genuine sterling silver 9.25 and fantasy jewelry. All her products are of good material and quality. She recently made Easter baskets and had the Easter Bunny personally deliver each basket to the children. They have mascots to go to birthday parties and make the party more fun.
It is very impressive to see all the material that she uses since it is of great quality and, more than anything, she personalizes each product. For example, she makes cups with verses from songs and personalized boxes that announce the arrival of a baby. What I like the most is that she works according to your budget and that her business, as well as her husband's, like to support the community, especially educational programs and have sponsored school organizations.
Gabriella is detailed. She lovingly makes each arrangement as if it were something she would like to be given as a gift. She says that for her, the request that she will never forget is when she made the t-shirts and flower arrangements in memory of Jeshia Saldaña Torres. She made more than 100 shirts for the funeral in West Liberty and apart from that Yesenia Torres Garcia (Jeshia's mother) had more shirts made to take them to Puerto Rico, but the decorator could not help but feel immense pain.
She is grateful to the entire community and its surroundings for trusting her work. Although she has had to make t-shirt arrangements and products for very sad occasions, such as the t-shirts for his nephew Carlos Amos Ortiz R, her brother-in-law Jose Carlos Ortiz L, and the t-shirts for her cousin Jay Lopez's funeral, she also says that it's great to see your customers' faces when they look at the Mother's Day arrangement you've prepared for them or a personalized balloon for a birthday. “Everyone deserves to receive a nice detail from time to time,” says López.
