At this time last year, average daily high temperatures were lucky to breach 50 degrees.
Mother Nature is shining more favorable on spring high school athletes this go around.
Starting next week, athletes in track and field will officially fire the starting gun on the 2024 spring sports season with a handful of indoor events at Cornell College and the University of Dubuque.
The week after, on March 25, girls' and boys' soccer as well as boys' and girls' golf will all begin their seasons with early evening matches.
Teams will push towards State appearances taking place in late May and early June.
