The West Liberty High School Boys basketball team fell to the hands of neighboring rival Wilton in their only outing this week, the Beavers rolling to an easy 52-19 River Valley Conference victory Tuesday night, Jan. 12, handing the Comets their ninth straight loss as their season record fell to 1-9.

The visiting Beavers entered the night with a 4-5 record but the Comets kept the game close throughout the first quarter, trailing just 9-6.

The Beavers expanded their lead before half, scoring 13 in the next quarter and playing some stingy defense to take a 22-11 lead to the locker room.

The Comets struggled to find their footing coming out of the locker room as they were outscored by the Beavers 13-7 in the third quarter before the Beaver showing would continue in the final quarter, finishing at 52-27.

Hector Adames led Comet scoring on the night with seven points, three rebounds and a pair of steals along with an assist. Jahsiah Galvan lifted the Comets on the glass, recording nine boards while scoring another seven points along with having a pair of assists and a steal.
