Comet boys record four ribbons at Wapello meet

The West Liberty High School boys track team took their talent to Wapello Tuesday, April 13, to compete in the Indian Relays.

The Comet showing was headlined by a first place finish from senior Sam Gingerich in the 110 hurdles as the Comets captured four total podium finishes in their limited action.

Gingerich put on a display in the 110 hurdles for the Comets, outpacing the next closest competitor by nearly a second and a half enroute to a 15.68 finishing time.

West Liberty’s Ashton Burroughs captured third place in the 800 meter run, putting up a time of 5:16.03. Caleb Wulf grabbed third in the 400-meter hurdles and the Comets Distance Medley team consisting of Gingerich, Collins, McHugh and Burroughs captured second place.

The Comets are scheduled to host their home meet this Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Field before heading to Anamosa next Tuesday, April 27, beginning at 4:30 p.m..
