City seeks candidates


The City of West Liberty is seeking candidates to run for seats on the city council.

Information is available at the city hall and application forms for the Nov. 7 general election are due to the county clerk’s office in Muscatine by Sept. 21.

The application requires obtaining at least 15 signatures from residents within the city limits. An affidavid of candidacy must also be filled out and can be obtained through the city offices.

Four-year terms are expiring Jan. 1, 2024 for appointed mayor Ethan Anderson, mayor pro-tem Cara McFerren, Ashley Smith and Joshua Shiltz while other council members include Omar Martinez and Dana Dominguez.

The council meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
