Cedar County Emergency Management is reminding Cedar County residents affected by the Aug. 10 derecho that they have less than two weeks to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance.

Survivors in Cedar County have until Oct. 19 to register for disaster assistance. There are several ways to register for assistance. Residents can apply through any of the following methods:

* Visit DisasterAssistance.gov.

* Call 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585) 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

* Download the FEMA mobile app.

If previously applied for FEMA’s Individual Assistance, and have been denied assistance, you are encouraged to appeal the denial decision. To begin the appeal process, survivors can contact FEMA through the previously listed processes.
