Cedar County absentee ballots available Oct. 5

Absentee ballots will be available on Oct. 5 for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Cedar County Auditor’s Office will mail a ballot to any registered voter in Cedar County that requests one by mail. Requests may be obtained from the Cedar County Auditor’s Office or by downloading at www.cedarcountyelections.org.

The request form should be sent to the Cedar County Auditor’s Office, 400 Cedar Street, Tipton, IA 52772, and include the voter’s name, date of birth, Iowa driver’s license/non-operator ID or four digit voter pin, the address at which the voter is registered to vote, the address to which the ballot should be sent if different from the registration address, the name or date of the election (General Election — November 3, 2020), and signature.

The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at 5 p.m.

Voters may designate any person of their choice to deliver their voted absentee ballot to the County Auditor. Voters still have the option of mailing the ballot, postage is prepaid. To be counted, ballots delivered by mail must be postmarked no later than midnight, Nov. 2, and received no later than noon on Monday, Nov. 9. Hand-delivered ballots must reach the Auditor’s Office no later than 9 p.m. (closing time of the polls) on Election Day, Nov. 3.

Voter Id requirement for

in-person absentee voting

Voters who vote absentee in-person pursuant to Iowa Code 53.10 or 53.11 are required to provide proof of identity.

Voters may vote absentee in the Auditor’s Office starting on Monday, Oct. 5, through Monday, Nov. 2.

The Cedar County office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
