Applications open: 2021 Healthiest State Annual Awards

DES MOINES — The Healthiest State Initiative wants to recognize Iowa workplaces, education providers, communities and individuals for their efforts to improve the physical, social and emotional well being of Iowans.

Applications are now open for the 2021 Healthiest State Annual Awards. Apply now at IowaHealthiestState.com/Awards.

The categories for the Healthiest State Initiative Annual Awards include:

* Workplace

* Education (K-12 schools, public or private)

* Out-of-School (after-school program, day camp, youth recreational clubs)

* Early Care (child care centers, preschools, in-home day care)

* Healthy HometownSM Powered by Wellmark Community Award

* Individual Impact

Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 30, and finalists will be announced in January 2021. All finalists will be recognized, and winners in each category will be revealed in February 2021. Each winner will be awarded a monetary prize to contribute toward a health and wellness-related project that benefits their employees, students or fellow citizens.

“Despite the challenging circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that Iowans are still coming up with creative and innovative methods to create environments that support healthy eating and active lifestyles,” said Jami Haberl, executive director for the Healthiest State Initiative. “We look forward to reviewing the applications and rewarding these resilient Iowans who are improving the well-being of their communities.”
