The West Liberty American Legion Post 509, SOL, and Auxiliary will hold their annual Veterans Day Observance at the Legion building in downtown West Liberty starting at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11.
Legion volunteers start work at 9 a.m., and doors open at 10:30 a.m. for veterans, supporters and anyone else who wishes to attend.
LTC Saul Arroyo from the Rock Island Arsenal is guest speaker, followed by a quick move outside to the sidewalk for a West Liberty High school band trumpet player to play taps prior to our gun salute. After our observance, we welcome everyone to come back inside for light refreshments available thanks to the Legion Auxiliary.
The Legion invites the entire community, including those from the Nichols and Atalissa areas, with a special emphasis on fellow veterans, to include anyone who served at least one day of active duty, and current military personnel from all branches to join us this year for this event.
