The West Liberty High School graduates "All School Class Reunion" plans are in full swing! The dates set by the committee are Friday, July 14 through Sunday, July 16. Committee chair Melody Henderson along with Rhonda Jensen, secretary-treasurer, Karen Thurness, Phyllis Owen Sterba, Priscilla Haessig, Bob Cline, Harriet Hald, Jeanie Thurston, Phil McIntire, Mary Hildebrand, Janet Luedtke and Pam Wever met Monday, October 24 to begin planning to make this All Class Reunion as exciting as in the past.

Next year’s event will kick off on Friday, July 14, for all alumni and their guests, along with present and past administrators and teachers. Those who have pre-registered will pick up their information packets and lanyards on either Friday or Saturday. Volunteers will be organizing an ‘Antique Car Show’ to be held at the fairgrounds. Alumni will start the reunion off at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds Grove with the National Anthem, followed by more entertainment that is still in the planning stages.

Friday evening’s meal will be a Pulled pork sandwich meal prepared by volunteers Phil and Peggy McIntire and Ken and Harriet Hald. Non-registered guests are also welcome to join this event and pay for their meals that evening.

Saturday, July 15 committee member Bob Cline will be organizing a Tractorcade in the morning.

Other entertaining possibilities for Saturday during the day will be the West Liberty Depot Historical facilities, as well as other school and community open houses. The downtown businesses will be open longer for the unique hometown shopping experience. Finally, the committee is working on hosting a ‘West Liberty Historical Program’, an ice cream social, and entertainment in the Ron De Voo Park located in downtown. We hope that alumni will take advantage of the delicious variety of restaurants offered in West Liberty for lunch.

Saturday the social hour will be held in the high school commons from 4 - 5:45 p.m. with displays of West Liberty School memorabilia. The Alumni Banquet will start serving at 6 p.m. for all registered guests. (Only registered alumni with their guests will be allowed to attend this banquet and program in the high school gymnasium.)

Sunday, July 16, the Muscatine County Fair parade starts at 2 p.m., immediately followed by the West Liberty Chamber sponsored "Picnic in the Park" with free swim, entertainment, and food for purchase. This is another socializing opportunity to meet up with fellow alumni.

Registration forms will be made available at different businesses or online in January. The deadline to register for the banquet will be June 30.

The committee is looking for volunteers to help with the different committees to help with setting up, decorating, greeting alumni and tearing down. If you are interested in helping, please contact Melody Henderson at 319-321-3793 or email mmhendu@gmail.com.

The next committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at 1499 Ridgeview Avenue. Please come and join us!
