Accident along Cedar County’s Highway 30

On Sept. 14 at around 10 a.m., there was a three-vehicle accident on Highway 30 in Cedar County.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 1995 Ford Ranger driven by Nicholas Steffen, 35, of Iowa City, was eastbound on Highway 30 near Charles Avenue. Steffen crossed the center line and collided head on with a 2014 Chevy Cruze driven by Kathleen Wickman, 70, of Clarence, who was traveling in the westbound lane.

A third vehicle, a 2011 Chevy Impala driven by Katherine Trout, 35, of Stanwood was also traveling westbound, behind Wickman. Trout drove into the north ditch to avoid the collision.

According to reports, Steffen and Wickman were both transported to local hospitals with injuries.
