Editor’s note: The following public service announcement was submitted by Senior Resources in Muscatine.
As in the past, Senior Resources SHIIP counselors are here to help you with your 2021 Medicare Part D drug plan and Medicare Advantage choices. Because of COVID-19, we are doing things differently this year. Counselors will be advising clients primarily over the phone and email. Counselors will determine if a client’s situation requires a face-to-face meeting.
Clients who have been seen in the last year will receive a letter from SHIIP with an enclosed Client Information Form enclosed. To get your comparison done:
1. Complete BOTH sides of the form. Be sure to print your name as it appears on your Medicare card.
2. Get a printout from your pharmacy of your current drug list which includes the prescription name, dosage and the quantity prescribed or complete the drug list form enclosed. Make sure all new medications are updated and old medications are marked out.

We will complete comparisons in the order we receive them. Please get your information to us no later than Oct. 12 after receiving the letter. It takes a few days to process each comparison. We will contact you by phone with your plan results or to set up an appointment if necessary.
If you did not receive a letter, please call Senior Resources (563-263-7292) and ask for SHIIP. A counselor will get back to you about scheduling a phone appointment. People who did not receive a letter should contact SHIIP no later than Dec. 1 in order for counselors to have enough time to schedule an appointment before the deadline on Dec. 7.
