More than 800 farms in Scott, Muscatine and Cedar Counties are part of Iowa's Heritage and Century farms program.
Heritage farms are those held by the same family for 150 years. Century farms are those held 100 years by the same family.
Families register with the Iowa Department of Agriculture for a recognition ceremony each year at the Iowa State Fair.
