7th grade season begins

Tuesday, November 7, 2017
The junior high basketball season has arrived for the girls, and the 7th grade team quickly notched three victories the first week.

The numbers are small, nine girls for the 7th grade team, but their basketball IQ and tenacity run at a high level.

The young Comets hosted Mid-Prairie on Monday, Oct. 30th. The A-Team won 34-10. Monica Morales led scorers with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.

Teammate Finley Hall was right behind her with 14/2/0. Magaly Kivi added the final 2 points along with a rebound and a steal. Kinzie Akers went 0/2/0, Brooklyn Buysse 0/1/0, Kylie Struck 0/1/1 and Crystal Ledezma 0/0/0.

The B-game consisted of just 2 quarters because of low numbers. This will be the case for the entire season.

Mid-Prairie won the B-game 19-5. Morales went 2/1/1, Madisen Pace 0/0/0, Kivi 1/0/0, Akers 0/0/0, Buysse 2/1/0, Struck 0/0/0, Hall 0/0/0, Ledezma 0/2/0 and Loni Maurer 0/0/0.

On Nov. 2nd the team traveled to Durant and took advantage of their small gym and ran up and down the floor with much success, coming away with a 55-6 A-Team victory.
