The West Liberty girls track and field team participated in the River Valley Conference Meet at Bellevue May 4, scoring 15 points.

"The River Valley Conference features one of the strongest collection of girls track teams in the state," West Liberty Co-head Coach Dennis Riley said. "The Competition in this meet is not for the weak of heart. If you don't perform at an elite level, you will be left behind. Thirteen teams in 19 events were battling for eight places in each event. I though the girls rose to the occasion and competed well where we could. Even though we could do no better than 13th place, our 15 points were Well-deserved.

"There were several fine efforts, but no one on West Liberty's team matched Emilie Burke's three 400 meter races, posting three season bests in 63.75, 67.63, and 64.71.

"With one week to go, I hope her efforts rub off on everyone else."
