Table of Grace (5/4/17)

Remember the table grace: ‘Come, Lord Jesus, be our guest, and may these gifts to us be blessed. Blessed be God who is our bread, and may the world be clothed and fed. Bless our loved ones everywhere and keep them in Thy in loving care?’

I’m studying Acts 2:42-47 this week. A little passage titled the Fellowship of Believers in my bible.

Here are some of the things those early believers did: devoted themselves to teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and prayer, to meeting daily together, to sharing belongings and seeing that all who had needs were provided for.

We have several organizations here that provide for needs, but it seems to me we too often do it for strangers and we remain strangers. And we’re never quite able to fill all needs.

I’m wondering this morning if our table of good needs to become an actual community gathering of folks to break bread together and pray and pool resources.

A place to invite the living presence of God to sit with and move amongst us. To not only bless us but to make us a blessing to others. Be watching for a date to be announced.

The Table of Good needs to move from a concept to an action, don’t you think?
