The West Liberty boys' track and field team placed second Friday, April 21, at the Ron Maxson Relays in West Liberty. Several personal records were set.

Also, it was announced last week that the Comets boys qualified for three events at the Drake Relays which will be held in Des Moines later this week.

Qualifying for the Relays were Noah Feldman in the high jump, Tanner Iske in the 100m dash, and the 4x100 team of Michael Hartman, Seth Feldman, N. Feldman, and T. Iske. Alternates for the 4x100 team will be A.J. Lenz and Jackson Gingerich.

T. Iske won the 100m dash at the Maxson Relays with a time of 11.24. Lenz placed eighth in 12.59. Bryson Iske had a personal-record time of 13.54 in the race.

The Comets double-scored in the 200m dash. Hartman placed second with a time of 23.88. Adrian Velez placed fourth in a personal-record time of 24.44. B. Iske finished in 28.28.

In the 400m dash, Joe Kelly had a personal-record time of 54.97 for second place. Nathan Schemmel placed fourth in 55.26 for fourth place. B. Iske finished 28.28.

Austin McMichael had a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles. His time was 16.98.

In the field events, Cobain Polman had a personal-record toss of 98-09.00 in the discus. Joe Baker placed second in the long jump with a jump or 18-07.00. Ruben Renteria had a jump of 15-11.00 in the long jump. Cobain put the shot 36-03.00.

N. Feldman was first in the high jump, clearing 6-04.

The 4x100 team of Hartman, S. Feldman, N. Feldman, and T. Iske won their event with a time of 45.12.

The 4x200 team of Hartman, S. Feldman, N Feldman, and T. Iske placed first in 1:32.86, a personal-record time.

The 4x400 team of T. Iske, S. Feldman, Justis Dengler, and N. Feldman won their race in a personal-record time of 3:32.95.

The 4x800 team of Coy Ruess, Schemmel, Erick Estrada, and Ruben Renteria placed second in 9:11.13.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Hartman, McMichael, S. Feldman, and Armando Revelez won their race with a time of 1:06.61.

The sprint medley team of Lenz, Talen Dengler, J. Dengler, and Baker placed fifth in 1:47.43.
