Boys battle from back in Durant

The West Liberty Comets boys track and field team had three first-place finishes at the Durant meet April 4. The team finished in fifth place with 83 points.

The Comets double-scored in the 100m dash. Tanner Iske won the event with a time of 11.30. Michael Hartman placed sixth in 12:07. A.J. Lenz finished the race in 12.52.

In the 200m dash, Noah Feldman placed fourth with a time of 24.00. Ely Gingerich finished in 27.11.

Armando Revelez was fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 57.23.

West Liberty also double-scored in the 800m run with a third and fourth place finish by Coy Ruess (third in 2:14.46) and Nathan Schemmel (fourth in 2:16.82). Erick Estrada finished the race in 2:25.62.

Revelez was fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.76.

In the field events, Andy Lopez was seventh in the discus with a throw of 103-03. Bryson Iske had a jump of 14-01.75 in ht long jump.

Lopez was fifth in the shot put preliminary round. He put the shot 32-04.75. Cobain Polman put the shot 34-11.00.

In the 4x100, Hartman, Seth Feldman, N. Feldman, and T. Iske finished third with a time of 45.04. A.J. Lenz, Austin Beaver, B. Iske, and Talen Dengler ran the race in 51.81

The 4x200 team of Hartman, S. Feldman, N. Feldman, and T. Iske won their event with a time of 1:34.23.

Justis Dengler, Coy Ruess, N. Feldman, and T. Iske were third in the 4x400. Their time was 3:41.06.

Also third was the 4x800 team of Ruess, Schemmel, Erick Estrada, and Ruben Renteria. Their time as 9:19.26.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Hartman, Austin McMichael, S. Feldman, and Revelez won their event with a time of 1:05.76.

In the sprint medley, Ely Gingerich, J. Dengler, Lenz, and Jackson Gingerich finished in fifth place in a time of 1:48.43. the team of Beaver, B. Iske, Cobain Polman, and T. Dengler finished with a time of 2:08.77.

“It was a cold, windy day. Getting third place out of 15 feels really good, especially since third through fifth place was separated by one point,” Co-head Coach Marc Hauschild said. “Andy Lopez and Bryce Esmoil are out with injuries for the forceable future, but we get Spencer Daufeldt back from injury this week which is nice.”

Personal records and season bests were turned in by Austin McMichael in the 110m hurdles; Coy Ruess in the 1600m run; and Michael Hartman, Seth Feldman, McMichael and Revelez in the shuttle hurdle relay.
