John H. Barclay, 78, of Muscatine, died on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
John was born on April 20, 1938, in Iowa City, the son of James and E. Alice Weak Barclay. He married Jackie McDaniel and she preceded him in death in 1996.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed being with family, was a rustic artist and gatherings at the pond.
Those left to honor his memory include his partner, Linda Palmer of Muscatine; two daughters, Kay Kerr and husband Mike of Muscatine, and Laurie Dierickx and husband Randy of Grandview; grandchildren, Kevin Bunch, Kristopher Bunch, Gabriel Kerr, Falynn Durflinger, Kiffany Carver, Payton Dierickx, Brayde Barclay, Brian Palmer, Stephanie Palmer, Danielle, Zach and Cole Palmer; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Enright, and husband Chuck of Simi Valley, Calif., Jean Ann Hammar of St. Paul, Minn., and Betty Nelson of San Luis Obispo, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Steve and Doug Barclay; and one brother, Robert Barclay.
