Summer Lunch

The Summer Lunch Program, sponsored by the West Liberty School District, is now at the halfway point. The participation this year has been better and more consistent than in previous years.

The lunches are served every day, Monday thru Friday, from 11-11:20 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church Hall.

St. Mary’s has opened a ‘Mini-Library’ at the Parish Hall. A large inventory of books for both youth and adults is available for summer reading. There are some magazines and a few older movies available also.

Anyone in the community is welcome to visit the hall and borrow a book or two. The Hall is open from 11-11:30 a.m. on weekdays. You may call Toni at 319-723-4468 if that time doesn’t fit your schedule and she will gladly allow access to the library.

The Nichols United Methodist Circuit is providing a day of entertainment for preschool thru high school children and youth of the area on Saturday, July 12.

Vacation Bible School (Hidden Treasures”) festivities will be held at the Nichols City Park, located on Pleasant St. behind the old school building. Preschool through sixth grade will go from 1-3 p.m. while seventh through twelfth grade will occur from 3-5 p.m.

If the older kids would like to help with the younger children they are welcome to come at any time. Several activities being planned are a hidden treasure hunt, a scavenger hunt and a frozen treasure hunt.

Social Dinner

A Family and Friends social and dinner will occur from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with walking tacos provided by the United Methodist Women Circuit. Play clothing is recommended. Organizers would appreciate knowing how many plan to attend, so please, contact or call Toni Wilson at 319-723-4468. Should the weather not cooperate a rain date of Sunday, July 13, has been set.
