Tyler, Greiner, Brockert and Eckrich earn wins at the MCF
by MarySue Kruse · July 28, 2010

The 2010 Muscatine County Fair was going on Saturday night, and racing action in all five divisions was exciting for the excellent crowd that was in attendance. In the Open Late Model division Kurt Kile lead the first 21-laps, until Andy Eckrich passed him on lap 22, then lead the remaining three laps for his sixth win of the season overall. Saturday night was the first appearance of the Open Late Models since May. Kile finished second, Chris Simpson was third, Brian Harris fourth wheeling an IMCA spec motor car, with Kevin Kile finishing fifth.

Dan Brockert has been knocking on the door all season long in the Gustaf Engine and Machine modified division in search of that first win here at the raceway. The 19-year veteran’s wish came true as he passed Noah Coppess for the lead on lap nine, survived a couple of late race cautions and led the remaining 18-laps for win number one and third overall for the year. Scott Dickey placed second, Ryan Dolan third, Bruce Hanford fourth, with Todd Hansen fifth.

The wins just keep piling up for Matt Greiner in the Kile Motorsports Stock Car class. Greiner notched win number 10 to his exclusive resume, for 2010, Saturday night leading the 15-laps from flag to flag. Greg Gill was second, Justin Speers third, David Brandies fourth, with Dakota Hayden fifth.

In the Spenler Tire B-Mod division Brad Tyler grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back leading all 15-laps to checkered. Zach Less placed second, Rick Husmann, his best run of the year, third; Tanner Allen fourth, with Mike Fluegel fifth.

“With all the rain the track received I am surprised that we even got to race. So a big Thank You to SPI, the fair board, and those who donated equipment or helped out to get the track ready for us to race.” Said Tyler “Zach got underneath me after the first caution and I thought he might get me going into 3 but my Mach1 Chassis stuck going in and I got a great run off of 4. The longer we ran green the better my car was so I was happy we only had 2 cautions because it seemed like Zach was faster the first 2 laps. After a restart I just had the track position and had to hold him off until we got a couple laps in again.  The Fair race is special and one that I think every driver over there wants to win.”

In the US 6 Body Works Farley Flyers 10-lap feature Joe Zrostick passed Shaun Slaughter on the fifth lap and led the rest of the way in recording his first victory of the season here at the raceway. Slaughter placed second, Tyler Kelly third, Jarrod McMichael fourth, with James Roose fifth.

This Saturday night will mark the return of the IMCA Late Models and come help me celebrate my birthday. It is crashedtoys.com night come see all your favorite drivers in action as they battle in all five divisions. Hot laps at 6:30 pm, with racing underway at 7 pm. See you at the track.
