Fair parade, fun run, PIP this weekend by Lindsay Hoeppner · July 14, 2010 “Family, Fun, 4-H, Food, Friends and Finally, a Ferris Wheel.”
West Liberty’s largest annual event — the Muscatine County Fair — will run Wednesday, July 21 through Sunday, July 25. The big week will begin a little earlier, however, with the Muscatine County Fair Parade and Fun Run this Sunday, July 18.
The day will begin with the 13th Annual Muscatine County Fair Fun Run/Walk. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m., at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds in West Liberty, with registration 7-7:45 a.m. The entry fee is $15 per person, $60 maximum per family. All of the race proceeds will go to West Liberty Youth Sports.
The “TWL” 1-mile Run/Walk for children ages 12 and under and a 50-yard dash for children ages 6 and under will be held immediately following the 5K Fun Run/Walk, at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds.
For more information, contact Kevin or Shawna Mueller at 627-4263 or Lori Leggins at 627-6548.
The fun doesn’t stop there, though.
The Muscatine County Fair Parade, sponsored by the West Liberty Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 2 p.m., at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds.
The parade will feature tractors, vintage cars, dancers, fair royalty, music and handmade floats. Leading the way will be this year’s grand marshals, Walt and Shirley Lehman.
After the parade, head to Kimberly Park for the International Picnic in the Park.
Sheltered Reality and singer/songwriter Jesse White will provide musical entertainment, while various community organizations will be selling tacos, turkey tenderloins, egg rolls, sweet corn and drinks. Bring the whole family and enjoy a free day of swimming at Kimberly Pool. |
